surfaces matter just as much!
Cleaning and disinfecting products in Canada have strict rules about what and what cannot be claimed on a label.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a benchmark organism, which means it is one of the most difficult organisms to eliminate. If a product is labeled ‘Tuberculocidal’, it means that it kills TB and the easier to groups of organisms, such as bacteria, viruses and fungi are also destroyed (such as the lists on Lysol® wipes container).
BioSURF and BioMERS are both one step Tuberculocides. Lysol® wipes and bleach are not Tuberculocidal.
Lysol® wipes and other retail disinfectants are effective in killing
coronavirus, however, we want to make you aware of their limitations.
The active ingredient in Lysol® wipes is Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride (BZK) (26%). Exposure to too much BZK can have adverse effects such as contact dermatitis, asthma or respiratory symptoms including sore throat, cough or runny nose. Limit exposure by protecting skin while using wipes.
According to the label, the surface must stay wet for 10 minutes* (contact time), and be allowed to air dry in order to
disinfect (kill 99.9%+) of the following:
Salmonella enterica (Salmonella)
Staphylococcus aureus (Staph)
Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Swine Influenza A (H1N1)**
**Coronavirus (COVID-19) is also classified as an emerging viral pathogen.
Lysol® wipes therefore can be considered effective against COVID-19,
but to be effective the solution must be allowed to stay wet for 10 minutes.
To sanitize a surface, the contact time is 30 seconds*, only killing 99.9% of the following:
Salmonella enterica (Salmonella)
Escherichia coli (E. coli)
Staphylococcus aureus (Staph)
Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep)
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
Campylobacter jejuni (Campylobacter)
Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria)
If you are using bleach to disinfect surfaces, the high-level disinfection ratio is 7 tbsp of bleach to 1L of water (5000ppm).
Contact time is 10 minutes*. Remember that bleach is highly corrosive and you'll want to make sure you protect your skin and eyes while using bleach to disinfect.
*If these contact times are not followed, there is a decreased chance of complete disinfection.
DID YOU KNOW ...
If using bleach, make sure you are using chlorine bleach, not the bleach that doesn’t damage clothes – yes there is a difference. Chlorine bleach has sodium hypochlorite as the active ingredient, whereas colour-safe bleach, non-chlorine or oxygen bleaches to not have the same disinfecting properties.
Right now, since our salons are closed, we have the time to
wash our surroundings down and wait 10 minutes to allow them
to dry, however, looking ahead at when we all reopen, we want you
to be aware of disinfection times and think about what the best practice
for your salon will be, going forward.

BioTEXT is the product we use to disinfect our salon surfaces with a contact time of 3 minutes.
BioSURF and BioMERS are the solutions we use interchangeably to soak our tools such as tweezers, scissors, etc., and can also be used as a surface disinfectant, with a contact time of only 50 seconds. The only difference between BioSURF and BioMERS is the scent.
*While we no longer carry BioSURF to eliminate confusion, salons still using BioSURF can rest assured that it is just as effective as BioMERS for disinfecting tools and surfaces

If you need a disinfectant that works even quicker than this, we suggest using BioSURF or BioMERS, which only needs contact time of 50 seconds to kill benchmark organisms.

BioSURF and BioMERS are the world's fastest one step tool immersion solutions that require only 50 seconds to properly disinfect instruments. These products can also be used as a surface disinfectant, however the more cost-effective solution is BioTEXT
