Microblading & Manual Shading
Microblading and Manual Shading
Microblading deposits semi-permanent ink into the brow area using hair-like strokes to create or enhance your natural brow
The Manual Shading tool is used to create more depth to your brows without losing the art of seeing each fine hair-stroke created with the Microblade, giving a more solid look to your brow. This method is used to create Manual Ombre Brows.
The Artist's Approach
At Every Initial Brow appointment, you will have a consult with your Makeup and Manual Shading artist, Corey, who will go over what your likes and dislikes are about your current brows, what you would like to see differently and what shape you think you prefer. She will then map out to perfection brows that suit your face structure then draw an outline for symmetry. You are involved in the entire process - unless of course, you don't want to be! After the basic shape has been outlined and both artist and client agree, its time to numb the area. Corey uses Zensa Cream for the initial numbing period.
While you are relaxing, Corey will choose the best colour for your brows, taking many things into consideration, such as:
- natural hair colour
- processed hair colour
- skin tone AND undertone
When numbing is complete, the beautiful brow process commences. Choosing the best DISPOSABLE (only!!) Microblade to suit your skin and desired brow look, Corey will create Hair-Like Strokes while implanting the chosen pigment into the lacerations made in the Epidermis.
Manual Shading (starting at $50 in addition to any Microblading package)
During the consultation portion of your appointment, depending on your desired look, Corey may suggest adding Manual Shading into your perfect brow scenario. This is a separate (DISPOSABLE) tool that is used to create more depth to your brows without losing the art of seeing each fine hair-stroke created with the Microblade. This blade is configured differently than a regular blade is, and it gives a more solid look to your brow. This method is used to create Manual Ombre Brows. We can go over each area as much as you want until you feel your desired brow fullness has been created. This technique is NOT RECOMMENDED to do a full brow with. That would take hours upon hours of poking your skin to make a full brow. This is only meant to give more definition in some areas of the brow. However, it does take more time and there is an additional cost.
Initial Touchup (6-8 weeks after the first Microblading appointment)
You've had your Microblading appointment and you leave absolutely loving your brows and you want them to stay like this forever. They can - with proper aftercare AND touchups. Many people assume Microblading is exactly like a tattoo - and in many ways, it is! However, Tattoo guns actually implant ink deeper into the skin than a microblade will, and because you may touch, wash and sleep on your face, those crisps lines can fade. The skin cells on our faces regenerate at a faster rate than other body parts, so in order to get your brows to remain at their maximum best for the 1-2 years that Microblading can offer, you MUST RETURN FOR A TOUCHUP within 8 weeks of your initial appointment.
Touchup appointments are used to re-open the existing hair-strokes and implanting more ink into them - creating a layering effect of the ink which allows your body to hold onto the pigment longer. Corey likes to do touchup appointments between 6-8 week post initial treatment. If you come sooner, your skin hasn't healed completely and you risk losing MORE ink (not to mention, it is usually more painful if done too early) If you wait until after 8 weeks, there is the possibility that you will need more strokes and/or reshaping and then you're looking at getting an entire new set of brows. Some people love the way their brows look and don't feel they need a touchup - and that is completely ok! Please keep in mind that your perfect brow is often created AFTER the first touchup. There is an additional fee for every touchup.
As stated previously, the cells in your face regenerate at a faster rate than in other areas of your body. In order to keep your brows fresh, it is generally recommended to come for a touchup annually. Touchup Prices are ONLY AVAILABLE TO CLIENTS WHO HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY MICROBLADED BY COREY. Although she welcomes clients who have been microbladed elsewhere in the past, when you are a new client to her you pay the initial brow price. Please understand that every artist is different so there is generally some reshaping, colour matching etc that needs to happen - thus making it the same as an initial appointment.
